Father Mora was ordained for the Oakland Diocese in 1994, in the cathedral of Aguascalientes, Mexico, by Oakland Bishop John Cummins. He arrived in the United States in 1988 and attended St. Joseph Seminary in Mountain View where he learned English, then moved to San Antonio, Texas, to study at Assumption Seminary.
His first assignment was as associate pastor in St. Joachim Parish in Hayward from 1994 to 1998. From 1998 to 2000 he worked in the same position in the Hispanic Ministry in Concord and then he returned to St. Joachim as pastor where he served until 2006.
In 2007 he took a sabbatical year. When he returned, he was named parochial administrator at Mary Help of Christians Parish in Oakland where he worked closely with the community to put the parish in a stronger financial position and to avoid its closure.
In 2010 he became pastor at St. Peter Martyr Parish in Pittsburg where he served until 2013 when he became the pastor here at St. Cornelius Parish.
